It fits the 1968–1979 VW Beetle, 1971–1980 Super Beetle, 1967–1974 Karmann Ghia and 1966–1973 Type 3. It takes 60° cone-seat M14x1.5 lug bolts. Sold each, with a chrome center cap and valve stem.
Part numbers: EMPI 00-9748-0 · 0097480 · UPC 707924414318
The dish is the cleanest wheel shape there is: a flat, bright machined face with no spokes to scrub, drilled for the four-lug cars. Order four for a matched set, or one as a spare.

What's Included
- One EMPI 15x5.5 machine-finished dish wheel, 4x130
- Chrome center cap
- Valve stem
Not included: tire and lug bolts. You need four M14x1.5 60° cone-seat lug bolts per wheel — EMPI 00-9712-0 is a set of four, on our EMPI chrome lug bolt listing.
Why It Matters
Stock 4-lug VW steel wheels use ball-seat bolts. This alloy uses a 60° cone seat, and ball-seat bolts in a cone-seat hole only touch on a thin ring and can work loose. Buy the matching 60° bolts with the wheel. At +17mm offset the 5.5 in rim sits a little further out than a stock steel wheel, which is the look most people want from a dish.
Install Notes
- Confirm your hub is 4x130 before ordering.
- Test-fit before mounting a tire: check brake, suspension and fender clearance.
- Torque to your factory manual or the bolt maker's spec in a star pattern and re-check after the first 50 miles.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Will this dish wheel fit my 1972 Super Beetle? Yes. All 1971–1980 Super Beetles, 1968–1979 Beetles, 1967–1974 Ghias and 1966–1973 Type 3s use the 4x130 pattern this wheel is drilled for.
- Will it fit my 1967 Beetle? No. The 1967 and earlier Beetle (and the 1966 and earlier Ghia) are 5x205 wide-five. Order EMPI 00-9747-0 instead. A 1967 Karmann Ghia is 4x130 and does take this wheel.
- Does it fit a VW Bus? No. The Bus is 5x205 through 1970 and 5x112 from 1971. The 5x112 dish is EMPI 00-9749-0.
- Do these come with lug bolts? No. The wheel comes with a center cap and valve stem only. You need four M14x1.5 60° cone-seat lug bolts per wheel, such as EMPI 00-9712-0 (set of four).
- What is the offset? EMPI lists +17mm offset with 3-3/4 in backspacing.
- Is this sold as a set? No, it is sold each. Order four for a full set.
