Why It Matters
The GT-8 is one of EMPI's alloy wheels for 4-lug cars, and EMPI makes a cap specifically for it. Order the 00-9708-0 to match the caps on your other three wheels.
EMPI's fitment for this cap covers the 4-lug years: Type 1 from August 1967, Type 3 from August 1965, Karmann Ghia from August 1966, plus Buggies and Baja Bugs on 4-lug pans.
Install Notes
- Clean the wheel's center bore so the cap's retaining ring or clips seat evenly.
- Line the cap up square to the bore and press it in by hand with even pressure around the edge. Do not hammer a plastic cap.
- To remove, work it out evenly from the back side of the wheel or with a plastic trim tool wrapped in a rag. Prying on one edge can crack the cap or mark the wheel.
- Check that the cap clears the axle nut, grease cap or spindle before you drive. If it touches, you need a taller cap (where EMPI offers one) — see the table above.
