Mobelwagen 520 Interceptor (Vintage 190) Wheel — Polished, 15x5.5, 5x205
Short answer: This is the polished Mobelwagen 520 Interceptor in 15x5.5 +20mm (about 4.04 in backspacing), drilled 5x205 for 1949–1967 VW Beetle, 1956–1966 Karmann Ghia, 1950–1970 Bus, 1961–1965 Type 3, 1973–1974 Thing and the Porsche 356. It is the same 10-window A356 cast aluminum wheel EMPI sells as the Vintage 190, in the one size and finish EMPI does not stock. It uses ball-seat, OE-style hardware and takes VW moon hub caps on the clips supplied.
Availability: Special order — ships from our Mobelwagen distributor; we confirm the ship date after you order. These wheels are not stocked on our shelf; every order is placed with the distributor after you check out.
Part numbers: Mobelwagen MW-520P-55520-20 (also printed MW-520P-55520+20). Sibling sizes: Vintage 190 10-1171-0 (silver 15x5.5), 10-1172-0 (polished 15x4.5), 10-1174-0 / 10-1175-0 (black).
Pair it with the polished 15x4.5 Vintage 190 (10-1172-0) up front for a staggered polished set, or run four for a square set.

- Material: A356 cast aluminum, classic 10-window heritage design, laser-engraved Mobelwagen logo (PMB Performance).
- Lug seat: ball seat, OE style (dealer: must use).
- Hubcaps: bolt-on clips for moon-style hub caps; hub caps not included.
- Drums: our Vintage 190 listings note 1966 and later OEM drums bolt on and pre-1966 drums need a 5mm spacer; ask us about your drums.
What's Included
- Single wheel, or four wheels with the Set of 4 option
- Bolt-on hub cap clips (per dealer)
Not Included
- Hub caps, tires, valve stems and lug bolts
Why It Matters
The 520 is a ball-seat wheel, so the stock-shape VW bolt works, but an alloy wheel is thicker than a steel wheel: use the longer 20mm ball-seat bolt (EMPI 00-9565-0 on a Beetle, Ghia, Type 3 or Thing) rather than the 15mm steel-wheel length.
Install Notes
- Confirm a 5x205 pattern.
- Check your drums: pre-1966 drums need a 5mm spacer per the Vintage 190 spec.
- Test-fit front and rear before mounting tires; torque in a star pattern and re-check after the first 50 miles.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this wheel in stock? Special order — ships from our Mobelwagen distributor; we confirm the ship date after you order. It is not on our shelf, so we order it from the distributor after you check out and email you the ship date.
- Is this the same wheel as the EMPI Vintage 190? Yes. EMPI sells the Mobelwagen 520 Interceptor as the Vintage 190; this polished 15x5.5 is the size EMPI does not stock.
- What lug bolts does it need? Ball-seat, OE-style hardware: M12x1.5 x 20mm (EMPI 00-9565-0) on a Beetle, Ghia, Type 3 or Thing; a 1950–1970 Bus takes M14x1.5 ball-seat bolts.
- Will it fit my drums? Our Vintage 190 spec says 1966 and later OEM drums bolt on and pre-1966 drums need a 5mm spacer. Ask us if you are unsure which drums you have.
- Does it include a hubcap? No. It comes with clips for moon-style VW hub caps; the caps are sold separately.
- Can I buy a set of 4? Yes. Choose "Set of 4" in the Quantity option. Orders of $250 or more ship free in the Lower 48, so a set ships free; orders under $250 pay shipping at checkout.
